We are delighted to announce that The Micro Invest scheme has been reopened for 2025, providing a fantastic opportunity for small businesses, start-ups, family businesses, and self-employed individuals to invest in their growth and development.
The Micro Invest scheme encourages businesses to innovate, expand, and enhance their operations, offering financial support through a tax credit calculated as a percentage of eligible expenditure. The scheme also covers increases in wage costs, making it an attractive incentive for businesses looking to scale up. Businesses can apply to redeem costs on fixed assets and wage increases incurred in 2024 too.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Micro Invest scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria at the time of application:
The business must have had no more than 50 full-time employees in the year the costs were incurred.
The annual turnover or balance sheet total of the business must not have exceeded €10 million in the fiscal year before submitting the application.
At the time of application, the business must employ at least one person, either full-time or part-time.
Unless exempt, the business must be registered with the VAT department.
Businesses engaged in activities specifically excluded under the de minimis Regulation (refer to Section 6) are not eligible.
Additionally, businesses that have applied for other investment aid measures, such as the Investment Aid Tax Credits 2014–2020 or Invest, are not eligible to apply for this incentive for investments made within the same year.
Why Apply?
The Micro Invest scheme provides essential financial support to businesses looking to grow. By offering tax credits on eligible expenditures, it helps companies reinvest in their future, drive innovation, and create new opportunities for expansion.
